Meet e-CAC, Brazil’s Online Tax Portal

Managing your taxes in Brazil doesn’t have to mean long lines or piles of paperwork anymore. Thanks to e-CAC, the official online platform of the Brazilian Federal Revenue Service (Receita Federal), you can access tax and fiscal services from anywhere in the world.

Short for Centro Virtual de Atendimento ao Contribuinte, e-CAC is a secure, 24/7 portal where individuals and businesses can take care of a wide range of tax matters. If you have a gov.br login, which is available to Brazilian residents and foreigners with a CPF, you’re already one step closer to simplifying your tax life.

With e-CAC, you can file and amend income tax returns (DIRPF), check your CPF status, review tax debts, and issue payment slips (DARF or GPS). You can also track the status of your Definitive Exit Declaration from Brazil. This is an important step if you’ll no longer be a resident for tax purposes.

Another helpful feature is the ability to authorize third parties, such as your accountant or lawyer, to access your account. You can register a digital power of attorney (e-POA) in the system and manage or revoke authorizations at any time.

The Federal Revenue Service also uses e-CAC’s digital inbox to send official notices, ensuring nothing gets lost in the mail.

If you’re dealing with the Brazilian tax system, don’t ignore e-CAC. It’s fast, secure, and built to save you time. Make it your first stop when filing or reviewing anything related to your tax obligations in Brazil.
